"OIL OR NO OIL"...How To Live With Your Neighbours,

Unlike prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa who prophesied abundant "OIL" deposits in Zimbabwe, I will be taking you through simple and humble tips on how to live with your neighbors. After all it is not the "OIL" that matters at the end of the day. It is the people around you who feel what you feel.

I am grateful that I live with neighbors from different cultural background. Some are difficult but I still smile at them and I am glad to say I am in good books with them. I never look at my neighbors with suspicion. I know that I am also a neighbour in their eyes. Of course there are some who will always be difficult, but i do appreciate them anyway.

I thought it very reasonable to share with you what normally would be no writer's interest. It is tips on how to be a good neighbour and live in peace with your fellow neighbors.

Perform Small Acts Of Kindness,

Help your neighbour with their DIY. (Yes Its meant to be a Do It Yourself) But help them anyway. I regularly travel between the city and my farm. So I normally bring them compost and manure for their gardens. I help them with their gardening.

I also do have a lot of basic tools which I freely use together with my neighbors.

Greet Your Neighbors
Make an effort to always stop by to greet your neighbors and find out how they are doing. Do this with a smiling face knowing full well that you benefit for being friendly to people. Never underestimate the power of greeting a neighbour.

I have discovered that most people now don't even greet. They just wave and say things in their hearts. I encourage you to go out there and greet people around you. An open hand ready to help will find it easy to greet and shake hands.

What are the Benefits?
When your neighbors feel appreciated they will feel great. Out of good gestures can lifelong friendships be born. The whole reason why you are around your neighbors is on purpose. You are not there by mistake but by divine connection.

Do it More and regularly
Be kind to everyone around you. Do it for all your neighbors. In times of difficulties it pays to be friendly to everyone. This goes beyond religion. Love people naturally. Go beyond race, color or religion.

Be grateful for the neighbors you have. Remember you are also a neighbour!

This Is Time To Build A Legacy: You Too Are A Legend

I am greatly inspired by Shannon L Alder's quote "Carve your name on hearts, not on tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you." This is time to build a legacy. To leave footprints that lay the foundation of the path that will be taken by many people.

One by one, each of us can start impacting on the lives of the people around us. Touch a faltering friend, smile to a stranger, feed an orphan, perform an act of kindness to someone, revive a fading friendship and mend broken relationships. The change that we need is us. Feed an animal. Slowly but surely we can become like little children again. Somebody somewhere needs a soothing voice of assurance.

We may not agree on everything but we have a life to live. It is worthwhile to live it in peace love and harmony.

It doesn't matter what we do as long as we change something from the way it was before we touched it into something that's like we after we take our hands away. Ray Bradbury is quoted as saying, The difference between a man who just cuts lawns and a real gardener is in the touching. The Lawn-cutter might just as well not have been there at all: the gardener will be there a lifetime."

In my endeavor to be a difference maker in the lives of people from far and wide I derive inspiration from people from all walks of life. Michael Jordan is still remembered as a individual who transformed basketball. His contributions spanned the globe and transcended far beyond the hardwood. As a businessman, his clothing brand remains iconic, and he remains active in a number of endeavors that enhance the lives of millions

Nearly 15 years after retiring from a legendary career Michael is still remembered as a legend and he left a living legacy.

Let us all as human beings not only be hardwired to think about today and tomorrow. Let us think of the future That focus is critical to remaining on course with humanity. However, we need to take some time to look at the longer-term vision for our survival. How will the future generations thrive long after we are gone. Are we building something for our children, our community, or even complete strangers to benefit from? The answers to those questions can be far more rewarding than the fruits of our labour today.

Matters Of Principle: Honesty And Truthfulness

In your daily living, what do the words honesty and integrity mean to you? Are you not living a lie? Are you open and transparent in your life? Are you not conservative with the truth about yourself?

A young man recently came in for a business coaching session. Being a married person, I as a compliment asked him to bring along his wife to the coaching session at no charge. The professional life that the young man thought was struggling with was not the issue. My assessment of the young man was that he lacked the characteristics of honesty and integrity.

I had a great opportunity to put the young man through the paces. The following are some of the points we addressed as we engaged on the way forward for him.

After a few questions the young man was very conservative with the truth and would only give a truthful answer after several probings. The young man would always try to come up with heroic answers to give an impression that he was on top of the situation. For parity check, I would glance at the wife to see if her facial expressions were confirming what the husband was saying. Ninety percent of the answers he gave were not confirmed by the wife.

I was motivated to share with you on issues of honesty and truthfulness.

Honesty

The young man admitted to not being honest at all. But what is it to be honest? To be honest means making a choice not to lie, steal, cheat, or deceive in any way. Being honest enables you to put together power of personality that will allow you to be of great service to God and others.
Always be honest with yourself, God and others at all times. You will be consecrated with harmony of intelligence and self-respect. Once you become honest, you will earn trust from the Lord and will be commendable to enter into His holy temples.

Dishonesty harms you and harms others as well. If you lie, steal, shoplift, or cheat, you injure your spirit and your relationships with others. Being honest will enhance your future opportunities and your capability to be guided by the Holy Ghost. Choose not to cheat in any way. Be honest in your job, giving a full amount of work for your pay. Do not diminish that being dishonest is acceptable, even though others may think it does not matter.

Truthfulness.
Closely linked with honesty is truthfulness. Truthfulness means thinking and doing what is right at all times, no matter what the cost. When you have integrity, you are willing to live by your principles and beliefs even when no one is watching. Choose to live so that your thoughts and behavior are always in synchronization with the scriptures.

As I write this article, the young man has not honoured his obligation to pay for the service rendered. He like many others out there do not pick up their phones when called, does not respond to messages and pretends to be very very busy with other pressing issues. 

Be honest and trustworthy with little things for it is from such that one can be trusted with the big things.
