It is easy to change the lives of people. It takes one person at a time. Changing the world can happen anywhere anytime. It matters not your race, gender, orientation or social status. Our struggles in the world are similar. Solutions to the world's problems lie in men and women who are willing to take the risk and start making the right decisions. Generations can be changed because of your own personal decision.
Steve Jobs Changed The World In Music, Animation and Phones
How can each one of us change the world? The following are some of the ways that can help you and I to play our part in changing the world.

Start doing simple tasks that you often overlook. Completion of simple tasks will give you a small sense of pride and will encourage you to do another and another. Completion of the little tasks will make you aware that little tasks completed make up greatness. Never overlook the little tasks in your life. If you cannot do the little things correctly then you can never do the big things right too.
If you hope to be a world changer, you will need to find someone to help you along the way. It can be frustrating journey when you travel it on your own. Through difficult times you will need help and assistance. Nothing matters than the will to succeed. if you want to be a world changer you are never measured by your social status, race, colour or anything else. You are only measured by the size of your heart.

Sometimes you will try very hard and still fail to achieve. That is the way life is. Do not give up or give in. Sometimes you will look stupid after trying so hard and the naysayers will always point fingers at you but still, dust yourself up after each fall and go ahead. Do not stop. Some days you will fail to measure up but it does not matter. The pain of failure will only build you up to be a better person altogether.

You may sometimes need do foolish moves just to break the records. You may have to slide into the thick of things head first. Take the risks and decide to do something that no one has ever done before. Never back down from trouble.

If you want to change the world you should have hope. Hope makes you sing when you are stuck in the mud. Have a positive attitude towards all circumstances.

Take the Initiative and start playing your part in leaving this world a better place than we found it.

Self Affirmation: I Am The Greatest No One Is Greatest

What is your affirmation about yourself? Muhammad Ali affirmed himself to be the greatest man of them all and he achieved that. So as you read this what is your affirmation about yourself?
The word affirmation comes from the Latin affirmare, initially meaning "to make steady, strengthen."
Affirmations do indeed fortify us by helping us believe in the possibility of an action we desire to make visible. When we orally affirm our dreams and ambitions, we are immediately empowered with a deep sense of encouragement that our wishful words will become a certainty.
Muhammad Ali affirmed himself to be the greatest man of them all and he achieved that.
We always have this self negative talk about ourselves. We allow people to bully us into submission that we are not good enough. It is a fact that thoughts influence our actions. Once we have developed thoughts that we are not good enough then we become just that. Get yourself your own self affirmation and work towards that.

No words are empty words, as every syllable we speak engages energy towards or against us. If you constantly say "I can't," the energy of your words will repel the universal force against you. But if you say "I can!" the universe will endow you with the abilities to do just that. So speak away; relinquish your fears and purge your anger, predict your own future and live up to your potential with the 35 affirmations that will change your life:

1.) I am the architect of my life; I build its foundation and choose its contents.

2.) Today, I am brimming with energy and overflowing with joy.

3.) My body is healthy; my mind is brilliant; my soul is tranquil.

4.) I am superior to negative thoughts and low actions.

5.) I have been given endless talents which I begin to utilize today.

6.) I forgive those who have harmed me in my past and peacefully detach from them.

7.) A river of compassion washes away my anger and replaces it with love.

8.) I am guided in my every step by Spirit who leads me towards what I must know and do.

9.) (If you're married) My marriage is becoming stronger, deeper, and more stable each day.

10.) I possess the qualities needed to be extremely successful.

After They Bury You: Who Will Carry On With Your Vision?

00:49 Add Comment
The burial of one of my close friends left me reflecting. He was a fine young man who had a great vision. He succumbed to cancer and with him all his dreams and visions went into the grave. As I watched relatives and friends mourn and wail, I was deep in my heart full of joy that the young man Charles had shared with me his work in progress and I knew what needed to be done and where to start.
When You Die, What Dies With You? Who Will Take Over Your Work In Progress?
One of the greatest thinkers of all time Karl Max died a stateless person and was buried by his family and friends. It is said that there were roughly between nine and eleven people at his funeral.

Friedrich Engels was Karl Max close friends and confidant. Engels' speech at the funeral included the passage:

"On the 14th of March, at a quarter to three in the afternoon, the greatest living thinker ceased to think. He had been left alone for scarcely two minutes, and when we came back we found him in his armchair, peacefully gone to sleep—but forever."

It is said Friedrich Engels and the other few friends who knew what Karl Max was working on immediately took over and finished off his book after he died. That in itself is an important lesson. Someone knew what Karl was working on and they continued with his vision without difficulty.

My friend Charles, died a bitter man because none among his relatives was keen to share his vision with him. When I expressed my desire to listen to him, he was overjoyed that at least someone would continue with his vision. I am glad that I listened to him. I knew I had to work and work very hard at the same time sharing my vision and my dreams with someone to take over when I eventually rest. I have carried on from where he left off.

After my friend's funeral I reflected on how much time I have left. I kept thinking about Charles whose life was so promising. I thought about all the things that he said he was going to do and of which he never got a chance to do. I knew I had to find a person to share my vision with.

Myles Munroe died in a plane crash but he had already shared his vision with his family and the transition of the vision was smooth. The family knew exactly what needed to be done.

In my The Lion In You series I gave an insight into how Cecil, the Lion's legacy continued when his sibling Jericho took over the pride after Cecil's death.

Yes Charles my dear friend is gone but I knew what he was working on and I am busy right now explaining to his relatives who are shocked to realise that the young man had great potential.

As days pass by, be aware that each one is a blessing to you and tomorrow is not guaranteed. What are you doing in preparing for your vision to carry on even in your rest? Are you sharing what you are doing with your close confidants? When you die who will finish off your book like Friedrich Engels and others did for Karl Max ? Who will carry on your vision like I did to Charles?

11 Easy Ways to Boost Your Willpower and Concentration

01:09 Add Comment
There is nothing as frustrating as knowing that you need to finish a project and undeniably not being able to focus on it. In a world in which these moments everything else seems more exciting than the task at hand. Think about, everything that you have to attend to—email, Facebook, tying your shoe—seems more demanding than finishing a project at hand.

It is very good that there are many ways to filter out distractions and improve your ability to concentrate for extended periods of time. To find out what some of these strategies are, we sifted through the Quora thread, “How do I improve my concentration and willpower?” and highlighted the most practical techniques.

Some of them involve small tweaks (think changing the way you write your to-do list), while others involve a bigger commitment (like a daily meditation practice). All of them will make you more productive in both your professional and personal lives.

1. Create a quick-hit agenda.
Keep your to-do list short.
If you’ve got 30 items on your to-do list and half of those are things that need to happen sometime this week, it’s no wonder you feel stuck.

A better bet is to give yourself some super-short-term goals. Quora user Ravi Mandliya suggests creating a list of things you’d like to finish in the next 45 minutes.

That forces you to be realistic in thinking about how much you can actually accomplish in a limited time frame, so you don’t end up with something vague and intimidating like “write three project reports.”

2. Work on your most pressing projects first thing in the morning.

Each day is chock-full of experiences that can sap your willpower, from turning down a coworker’s freshly-baked brownies to ignoring the siren call of your overflowing inbox. By the time 3 p.m. hits, it may be hard to muster up the cognitive resources to focus on anything work-related.

That’s why Vince Favilla says, “You need to work on your most important tasks early in the day, while you still have the focus and willpower to complete them.”

Psychologist Kelly McGonigal offers another reason why willpower may be highest in the morning: The brain is refreshed by sleep. (That’s also why an afternoon nap may work to boost your willpower and productivity.)

3. Practice concentrating for long stretches.

Learning to play chess can improve your concentration and memory.

Steve Denton recommends playing chess (or a similarly complex game) with challenging opponents to develop your ability to concentrate for extended periods of time.

In fact, educational organizations across the globe advocate adding chess instruction to school curricula. That’s because it helps increase concentration and memory—skills that can improve performance in other areas of life.

4. Start an exercise routine.

Physical activity has myriad benefits—but one of the less obvious is that it helps sharpen focus.

That’s because, according to one study mentioned by Mukul Shukla, regular aerobic exercise may spark development in parts of the brain related to attention and memory.

Other research suggests it might not take too long to reap the cognitive benefits of exercise. Kids who engaged in 10- to 40-minute bursts of exercise showed an immediate increase in concentration and mental focus, probably because of improved blood flow to the brain.

5. Figure out why you’re distracted.
Don’t beat yourself up for getting distracted.

It’s tempting to beat yourself up when you find yourself scrolling through your Facebook news feed instead of answering client emails. A better bet is simply to accept that you’re having trouble focusing and move on to figuring out why.

“I think the biggest thing is just acknowledging that you’re distracted and facing it head-on rather than trying to suppress it,” says Vinny Inverso.

Inverso says it’s important to understand whether it’s a physical or mental distraction that’s getting you sidetracked. If it’s mental, try putting away your phone or using a plug-in that blocks certain websites. If it’s physical, consider taking a walk or having a snack.

The point is not to waste time getting upset because you’re struggling, but to get to the root of the problem and eliminate it.

6. Take regular breaks.
A growing body of research highlights the importance of incorporating regular break times into your work schedule.

That’s possibly because prolonged attention to a single task hurts performance. One study found that people who took two breaks during a 50-minute cognitive task performed much better than those who worked straight through.

The question is: How long do you have to toil away before you can take a respite? Some research suggests the perfect formula involves working for 52 minutes and then taking a 17-minute break.

Eric Pepke recommends more frequent pauses: “Take a five-minute break at least every 20 minutes, get up, walk around, and reset your brain. It not only makes it possible to do [the task] for a longer time, but it makes every 20-minute chunk much more effective.”

7. Check emails in bulk.

Wait until you have ten messages to check your email.

Jan Kulisek says he only checks his email and Facebook when he’s got at least ten new messages. That way, he’s able to resist the urge to continually refresh his inboxes instead of buckling down on whatever project he’s supposed to be working on.

Of course, you should probably tell your coworkers that you’ve instituted this rule, so they know to instant-message you or stop by your desk if something’s urgent.

8. Practice mindfulness.

Mindfulness is the general term for cultivating greater awareness of your experiences in the present moment, and it can help you stay focused on the task at hand.

One simple mindfulness practice is to “do what you are doing with full focus,” says Paras Trehan. For example, Trehan says, pay attention to every bite of food you take, including the taste, the temperature, and the texture. Eventually, you’ll get accustomed to zeroing in on single tasks, while minimizing external distractions.

9. Learn to meditate.

Find a quiet place to sit and concentrate on your breath.

As meditation gains a foothold in Western societies, more people are starting to appreciate its psychological benefits. One study found that people were better able to concentrate after they spent several months at a meditation retreat.

For those who aren’t interested in dedicating that much time to their meditation practice, an anonymous user outlines an exercise you can do for a few minutes every day.

Find a quiet space, sit in a comfortable position, and start breathing. Count to six as you breathe in and six again as you breathe out. Keep doing this for as long as you can. The key is to notice when your mind is wandering instead of focusing on the task at hand. (There are variations on this technique, but counting your breaths is a basic meditation practice.)

10. Take an interest in the task.
Deepak Dev has a clever strategy for getting better at focusing: Find out why the task is important.

“If it’s a ‘dry’ subject, get to know the applications of what you’re studying or the history of how the concepts of the subject [have] evolved,” he writes. “Think about what you could contribute/achieve in your field after you acquire deep knowledge in the subject.”

So if your current assignment involves inputting numbers in an Excel spreadsheet, remind yourself how this task fits into your company’s work as a whole. How is your work on this project helping to advance the organization’s mission?

11. Be patient.
It takes time to develop a new cognitive skill.

Abhisek Rai Arrant says that when he started playing chess, he would lose some games simply because he couldn’t concentrate for hours at a time. Eventually, through meditation and simply more practice playing chess, he was able to increase his ability to focus.

From this experience he learned that developing any new cognitive skill takes time—and you can’t be too hard on yourself.

“While you’re busy increasing your concentration span, you shouldn’t give up on yourself,” he writes. “Be optimistic and enthusiastic about the progress.”
